Infernal Heatwave

// July 26th, 2005 // 2 Comments » // life the universe and everything

Wheeeeeehhhhwwww!!!! It’s HOT! Yeah, I know I like the heat. Yes, I like humidity too. But we’ve had MONTHS of this sticky, unmovable weather in the plus 90′s. Yeah, I like it, but it is hot. I feel like taking a nice siesta for three months. What is happening is that Mia and I are shifting our schedules so that we get up later, stay up later and avoid the sunlight when possible. Midnight is prime time for us.

Ebb and Flow

Collection of yesterday…

I make these things called “shadowpeople”. They begin as found wood and then they get carved, sanded, pierced, poked, burned, painted, inked and varnished into these sentinals or totems. They increasingly look darkly expressive. The newest one had an elongated neck, only partial arms and a mouth open in a banshee wail. They are beautiful, but scary. The shadow people began last year when I needed an outlet for processing the mental stress that came from being powerless in a situation involving where I live and my daughter. They have evolved and I love working with them.

Yesterday I was at my meditation class and I got a chance to witness a “pissing contest” by two males I both know and enjoy. Each one was attempting to topple, without acknowledgement, the other without seeming to care about doing it. These men, both middle age and established, reminded me of the male peacock, in a bit of a war dance, taking side-swiping pecks at the others while they did their version of the fan dance. That funny little “Y” chromosome never ceases to amaze me.

The DharmaPunx group has been V E R Y quiet lately. My personal practice has been “going”. I can’t say well. I can’t say not well. It just is. It really has situated itself into my life well, so it doesn’t seem to require much mental manipulation in order to sit for 45 minutes a day. It’s just something I do. Sometimes life works it magick and I miss a sitting. That’s okay too. Strange. I would like to become that detatched to eating!!!

Busy Week
Current mood: srtringy

I’ve just noticed that I have failed to write anything new in my BLOG for the past week. I had a laptop drive start to fail so I’ve been giving it CPR until it’s new drive arrived. The procedure was a success and my VAIO is not happy and well informed.

Other than that I have been…what is the word? I don’t know…only half here. It seems that sometimes I see reality in layers. The first (or front) layer is the “everybody moving, but not doing anything layer”. The vibration of the resonance of all other layers, confounding the beings who move to keep from going crazy, or from waking up. Then all the other layers are there behind the transparent front one. They smile and wave, happy that I see them. It is dislocating in a way. But I’ve forstalled the search for meaning to participate in the wealth of being for a while.

This has been a summer for book reading and I’ve read a ton, but I think my bookshelves have finally give out. I can’t find anything in the house that I haven’t read, re-read and read-out. A trip to the library is in store!!!

Oh yeah…I got an iPod.

I am a INTJ personality type. [PAPER]

// July 11th, 2005 // No Comments » // life the universe and everything

Dynamics of Personality
Myers-Briggs Personality Specialty Paper
China Krys Darrington
The University of Akron

I am a INTJ personality type. This means I am an Introverted iNtuitive Thinking Judger. INTJ personalities are individualistic. Often we strive to look at ideas with new angles to gain a comprehensive understanding of what we are dealing with. INTJ personalities are intuitive. We trust our gut feeling on situations and do not need others to appreciate or approve of that position. INTJ personalities are organizers. We are perfectionists who enjoy categorizing our experiences into neat little packages. We are also very focused on our goals and the things needed to achieve them. Even if the idea is impractical.

The INTJ personality type is very similar to what I perceive as my own in that I am a ruthless INDIVIDUAL. I have always had my own style and manner of doing things. I am unable to realize that my style impacts others and I’m unable to appreciate that others may find it challenging to figure things out for themselves. I also need to approach my perception from a variety of angles to find out the “proper” way of approaching things. Many times, I go with my gut feeling or intuition.

My INTUATIVENESS my not be practical or even realistic but once I have committed myself to an approach I’m onboard for the long haul. I often am unable to realize some unrealistic aspects to my goals because I have committed myself to them. I will just categorize and organize all the data, paper, tasks and anything else I can find, over and over in hopes that I will be able to ORGANIZE the impractical aspects out of my plans. 4) I am exceptionally FOCUSED to the goal and will ignore other needs, both biological and psychological in order to get the idea manifested. Such as my need to use the bathroom, but I will continue with this paper (draft, rough and editing) until it’s finished and THEN I will satisfy my biological function.

One possible application of the Myers-Briggs code would be in tailoring vocational training to the target audience. You could identify the participant’s code and then use language, gestures and visuals to approach the material so that it could be understood effectively by the participants. Counseling to “troubled” teens might be augmented by the use of the Myers-Briggs code. If you were able to understand the personality type of the adolescent that is in need of counseling you could posit your questions to him/her so that they would be more receptive, perceive less threat and therefore provide more effective counseling.
