Tiny House Project: Clogged Sink
The Tiny House-of-Chaos doesn’t have much in the way of workspace drainage, so I use the kitchen sink for far too much in the way a disposal. I try to make use of everything I can, but still a little of this and a little of that accumulates and my kitchen drain was slow.
I got out the plunger. Which just made the nasty water fly up and out of the second basin of the sink. I retrieved a second plunger. There was suction and pressure and I heard much in the way of gurgling, but in the end I think I just compresses the clog more.
I added a little of that baking soda/vinegar drain cleaner….no dice.
Hi-ho, hi-ho…to Lowes Home Improvement we go. To purchase my very own drain snake! I brought it home and attached it to my Ryobi 12V drill and we spun and spun and spun.
Eventually a nasty-smelling clog emerged tangled in with what looked like a piece of steel-wool. Yuck.
I putting the pipes back together a nylon washer snapped apart and the drain would drip, so back to Lowes to purchase a single washer. I also picked up some heavy-duty Teflon tape in pink, because October is breast-cancer awareness month. Huzzah! (Get your gams a mammogram!!!)
I went back and undid all the PVC piping under the sink and applied teflon tape to it all and reconnected everything.
Water goes in sink, through drain and down into pipes. No drips. No water on floor.
Another successful House-of-Chaos project!
And another opportunity for Chinagrrrl to learn more about her tiny house!
