Tiny House Project: Night-Blooming Jasmine
// October 5th, 2009 // House-of-Chaos, Tiny House Projects, life the universe and everything, spirit
Two nights ago my night-blooming Jasmine bloomed. The scent was heavenly. Succulent. Blissful. I know why they call it “Queen-of-the-Night.”I bought this little plant in the beginning of August at 75% off from a local garden store, Kriegers. I’ve been taking some risks with my gardening, but trying to keep my costs very minimal. This $40 plant was out the door and in my car for about $12 bucks after tax. I figured for $12 dollars I might give it a try. I had a large pot and containered it and set it in my front gardens to keep the hibiscus and lavender plants company.
I gave it some water, love and a little plant food and what do you know but in under 8 weeks the thing wanted to flower. How kind of it! Since we had our first frost here at the House-of-Chaos in the last week of September, I brought the Gardenia, Hibiscus and Miss Jasimine in the breezeway to protect them from the weird Ohio elements.
My breezeway is a little slice of heaven. I go out there in the evenings, just before bed, with a cup of tea and partake in the heavenly aroma while I do a bit of evening meditation or t’ai chi.
